Upper Plenty Primary School offers Music as part of the term specialist rotations program. Music Specialist, Nada Simondson, has extensive experience in the teaching of music and children have a one hour session per week for one semester focusing in the younger grades upon basic beat, rhythm, movement and singing. Students in Years 3 to 6 receive additional instruction in recorder as an introduction to the learning of an instrument and to extend the skills gained already in the reading of music notation.
Their is the opportunity for all students from grade one up to have private guitar, ukelele and kyeboard lessons each week. This is a user pays program.
Upper Plenty PS has an exceptional visual arts program with links to all areas of the curriculum being made where possible. The grounds reflect the art teachers passion for integrating children's work into the environment. The art program is comprehensive and involves all elements of the visual arts Ausvel curriculum and more.
A number of activities in this regard are taken within the Music Program and in the normal course of "Drama" Units or "Reader's Theatre" lessons within the Literacy Program. A feature of our program is the bi-annual Whole-School Production. All children have acces to a performing arts program for one semester of the year through the weekly rotations program.
