STEM

Upper Plenty Primary School explicitly teaches STEM one hour per week to students from Foundation to Year 6. Students have a natural curiosity which, when harnessed, can lead to a love of science that will last well beyond their primary school years.STEM provides a wonderful platform for students to harness this curiosity as well as apply their literacy and numeracy skills and build upon important background knowledge for the secondary school environment.

STEM at UPPS see students using iPads, Bee Bots and programming to reach destinations and follows paths.

Students acquire scientific skills and conceptual knowledge as well as attain and use the skills of scientific investigation, reasoning and analysis to ask questions and seek solutions. This develops scientific attributes such as flexibility, curiosity, critical reflection, respect for evidence and ethical considerations.
