In this special first year of schooling, students begin to lay the foundations of their learning, socially, emotionally and academically. It is a fun year filled with exploration, rich engaging curriculum programs and the opportunity for students to develop a passion for life-long learning and make connections to the world through real-life experiences.
There is always something exciting happening in Foundation, such as celebrating Milo's first birthday and 100 Days of School dinner.
Buddy Up Program
Our Buddy Up program supports a smooth transition for your child starting Foundation by being paired with a special friend in Year 6. The Buddy program promotes social and supportive networks and a sense of community and belonging within UPPS. Foundation students meet their buddy during our transition days and make these connections early to build those supportive networks. The buddy’s role is to make the students feel safe and secure, to look after them in the playground and ensure that are given all the help they need to establish new friendships. They help to explain the expectations of being at school, introduce them to the play equipment and recess activity options. They also show them how to recognise the teachers on yard duty and get familiar with the toilets and bell times.
