A knowledge rich curriculum involves knowledge content specified in detail to be taught to be remember not just encountered. It is content rich, comprehensive and detailed. It sources quality materials and is sequenced to build upon previously learnt knowledge.
At UPPS, a knowledge rich curriculum is important for our students because it makes students better readers and understand what they have read. Knowledge is important as we know that it takes knowledge to gain new knowledge as we know the brain attaches new knowledge to what it already knows. Having strong knowledge makes you a better thinker and understand the world around us. The main purpose is to build up the content of long-term memory so that when they are asked to think, they can think in more powerful ways.
